Dr. King’s Message

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s dream still matters profoundly in 2025, as evidenced by the numerous events and initiatives planned to commemorate his legacy each year around the country. His vision of equality, justice, and nonviolent resistance continues to inspire and guide efforts to address persistent social and economic inequalities in our day. The ongoing relevance of Dr. King’s dream is reflected in the themes of various MLK Day events planned for 2025.

The Progressive Religious Coalition (PRC) looks forward to the MLK Day observance each year. It is indeed an honor and pleasure to welcome Dr. Jon Meacham as the Keynote speaker again this year.

This gathering of religious and community leaders and advocates to strengthen community bonds and advance Dr. King’s legacy of “beloved Community”, here in Augusta and the CSRA, shows that his dream continues to inspire collective action and solidarity among all people. Dr. King’s values of love, tolerance, nonviolence, finding ways to build a just and equal society for all, continues to be our inspiration.

This official recognition underscores the continued relevance of Dr. King’s dream of shaping public policy and social consciousness. Dr. King’s dream remains a powerful force of positive change in 2025, serving as a catalyst for ongoing efforts to address social injustice, economic inequality, and racial discrimination. The numerous events and initiatives planned around MLK Day demonstrate that his vision continues to inspire and guide individuals and communities in their pursuit of a more equitable and just society.

Please join the Progressive Religious Coalition (PRC) on Monday, February 24, 2025, for this year’s annual “Does Dr. King’s Dream Still Matter?” in Sacred Heart Cultural Center at 7:00 pm, gathering starts at 6:30 pm.
