Our President

The Very Reverend Billy J. Alford, Retired Priest, and Dean Emeritus in the Episcopal Diocese of Georgia

Billy Alford retired from full-time parish ministry, in 2022, after having served as the Rector of St. Alban’s Episcopal Church, Augusta, GA for thirty years and priest-in-charge of the Church of the Atonement, Hephzibah, GA for three years. He was Dean of the Augusta Convocation of Episcopal Churches for twelve years.

Billy was born in Sylvester, Georgia and grew up in Albany, Georgia where he attended the public schools of Dougherty County. Billy earned a Liberal Arts degree from Darton College, Albany and a BA in Speech and Theatre from Albany State University, Albany, Georgia. Billy is a Veteran of the US Navy. He earned the Master’s in Divinity from the Virginia Theological Seminary, in Alexander, VA.

Billy continues to work with the Racial Justice Committee in the Episcopal Diocese of Georgia, A Trustee to the General Theological Seminary, in NYC and The Virginia Theological Seminary, in Alexandria, VA. He is the Board President of the Augusta Choral Society. Billy Alford is committed to the Social Gospels and the work of the Progressive Religious Coalition of Augusta and the CSRA. It is a privilege and honor to serve as the President of the PRC.

    Greetings Fr. Alford. Wishing you a meaningful retire. May it include some service that comforts the disturbed and disturb those who are too comfortable. I found that God empowered my much when I did not depend on the paycheck from a congregation. May you see God shining through Jesus Christ.
